Design Daze Out: February Events 2026

Winter still has its coat on, but the ice is cracking. Days linger a little longer. Spirits lift. Valentine’s Day nudges the heart, Lunar New Year invites renewal, and London turns the volume back up on culture.

For us, February is about emergence. Energy returning to the system. Creativity shaking itself awake. The events we’ve chosen this month do exactly that. They light up the city after dark, challenge ideas of beauty and bravery, rethink how materials live in the world, celebrate collective joy, and question how we design the places we spend our days.

Art After Dark

Art After Dark is a cultural takeover of London’s West End, stitching together major art institutions, independent galleries and nightlife venues through late-night openings and bold public installations. This year, the area becomes a full-scale nocturnal playground, anchored by Lakwena Maciver’s towering disco-light sculpture glowing in the heart of Piccadilly Circus. From the National Gallery to the Royal Academy of Arts and the National Portrait Gallery, doors stay open late, DJs set the rhythm, artists take over, and inspiration waits around every corner.

Tracey Emin: Tate Modern

A landmark moment at Tate Modern. Forty years of Tracey Emin’s work, laid bare with her signature honesty. From My Bed to unseen pieces, this exhibition doesn’t soften its edges. It’s raw, confessional, and deeply human. We’re going for the courage. The vulnerability. And the reminder that great art doesn’t ask permission.

CNY

Year of the Horse
in Chinatown, London
It’s the Year of the Horse, a symbol of energy, movement and momentum, which feels like exactly the tone we’re after this year. And what better way to celebrate than heading to London’s Chinatown as the festivities spill across Trafalgar Square and the West End. Lions, dragons, music and colour take over the city, reminding us just how powerful collective joy can be.

Workspace Design Show

From acoustics and lighting to furniture and tech, the Workspace Design Show is where the future of work stops being theoretical and starts being liveable. It’s a reminder that the places we spend most of our waking hours should do more than drive productivity. They should lift mood, support wellbeing, and make work feel a little less like a grind. Good design can be the difference between hating Mondays or whistling while you work.

Surface Design Show

This event brings architects and designers together to explore the latest in surface materials. It might not sound thrilling to everyone, but for designers always looking for new solutions and new possibilities, it’s endlessly fascinating. This year’s theme, Material Evolution, reframes what “new” really means, shifting focus from novelty to renewal. From reimagined waste to nature-led materials, it champions intelligent, responsible design. Exactly our kind of conversation…
